Thermodynamic Steam Trap
WORKING PRINCIPLE
Thermodynamic steam trap operates on the principle of generation of “Flash Steam” and corresponding increase in localised velocity and reduction in pressure under the disc.
FEATURES
- Thermodynamic steam trap with complete stainless-steel internals ensures better mechanical & corrosion resistance properties.
- Condensate entry below the disc, concentric to the disc/seat ensures a clean & parallel lift of the disc with reference to the seat, eliminating localized wear & tear.
- The disc & seat are fully hardened by a special hardening process, to withstand continuous, prolonged operation.
- Perfect shut off, no steam loss.
- Thermodynamic steam trap is robust, maintenance free, fully guaranteed.
ADVANTAGES
- Extremely robust steam trap with simple operation
- Can operate over their full working range without any adjustment
- Can be used on high pressure and superheated steam
- Not affected by water hammer
- Can be fitted in any position – horizontal or vertical pipe line (downward discharge). In both conditions, trap is not subject to damage by freeze conditions. In vertical installation, it is self-draining.
- In cold, rainy ambient conditions, due to higher heat losses to atmosphere, the trap operates too fast. Fitment of an ISO Tub can reduce steam losses to atmosphere and thereby reduce cycling and wear and increase life.
- Built in and easy to clean strainer for longer trouble-free service

- Inline replaceable to reduce maintenance costs
- Corrosion resistant as all stainless-steel construction
DISADVANTAGES
- Can discharge large amount of air under controlled start up conditions. Under rapid start up, air can shut the trap leading to “Air Bind”
- Cannot work with very low differential pressure
- Noisy operation
- Sizing is critical – oversizing may lead to rapid cycling and wear.
